Last night Microsoft started to update all the Xbox 360 users who registered for a closed beta, to try the new Xbox dashboard interface. For the lucky ones who registered on time, can test this new interface now.
Microsoft is on its way to upgrade almost all of its interfaces as quickly as possible to the style “Metro UI” present in the Windows Phone. The new Xbox 360 beta dashboard design has a very similar style and it will be a big step for the current Xbox 360 design. Along with this new UI for Xbox 360 dashboard, Microsoft also integrates voice control, gestures by Kinect and greater integration with Facebook.
But perhaps the most important thing is that this update comes with a Windows application called Xbox Phone Companion. This application allows you to remotely control your Xbox on the same network that your console is in. This is something similar to what Microsoft has done with the game for Windows Phone “Kinectimals”, a game that lets you interact with Kinect version on the Xbox 360.
A novelty of the new Xbox 360 dashboard is the integration of Bing, the search engine from Microsoft. Bing is normally seen everywhere when we are talking about a Microsoft product, but the truth is that in a video game right now having an integrated browser is not exactly the most important thing. But at the same time there is no wrong to find tips for games which we are playing in Xbox 360 without leaving your console and in that perspective this is a welcome addition from Microsoft.
Have you got this Beta Dashboard upgrade for your Xbox 360 from Microsoft?
