Software

Both the devices originally run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and both are upgradeable. Recently Samsung rolled out Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy Note 2 and Sony has announced of doing it with Android 4.2 update.

Memory

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB model in terms of internal storage and it also facilitates expansion of memory via microSD card for up to 64GB. Sony has released only one model in terms of on-board storage. It only offers 16GB model. However, it do facilitates expansion of memory up to 32GB via microSD card.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes with 8MP rear camera and 1.9MP front camera where as the Sony Xperia Z is mounted with 13.1MP rear camera and 2.2MP front camera.

Battery

Samsung has fueled Galaxy Note 2 with powerful 3100 mAh battery and Sony packs the Xperia Z with 2330 mAh battery
