Apple recently unveiled the new iPad with stunning retina display in dual-core processor and quad-core graphics. It’s simply a glorious experience to get a hold of the third-generation iPad which is more “resolutionary” as ever. It’s tagged starting at $499, and if you’re not interested for upgrade, the iPad 2’s price dropped, available only for $399.

In line with the launching of the new iPad and Apple TV on 7th of Marc, Apple released a software update, and  it is now available for download. iOS 5 update is rolling on iPhones, iPods and iPads. With slew updates on their existing products, iOS 5.1 carries new features and fixes some bugs.

Having Siri around as your personal assistant has become a lifestyle for iPhone users. It brought change to the experience bringing a spice to other Apple devices. Although it’s not available in the new iPad, Siri is now updated in iOS 5.1 with Japanese language for iPhone 4S devices.

The new iPad has its own voice dictation support, although it’s not packed with the same features like the Siri on iPhone 4S, it is supported with different languages such as American English, British, and Australian English, French, German and Japanese.

In iOS 5.1, the camera shortcut which was only accessible with double clicking the home button is now visible on the Lock Screen. Furthermore, the camera is keen in detection features, which highlight all the faces in the picture. This was a buggy feature – Apple has promised to fix this. What’s more, in iOS 5.1 you can now delete photos from the Photo Stream. For network detection, it has improved made specifically for AT&T. (4G LTE supported)

With the new iOS 5.1 firmware, minor upgrades were also included. Apple redesigned the Camera App on iPad, improved the quality of audio for TV shows, and movies, and gave users additional podcast controls for playback speed.

The issue that occasionally drops audio in outgoing calls is now fixed in iOS 5.1. Apple added Genius Playlists and Mixes to iTunes Match. However, this feature is only available for those who applied on $24.99/year program.

The iOS 5.1 firmware fixes the bugs on battery life. This is actually one of the things users claim since the release of iOS 5 firmware. Now, they have addressed this issue. Hopefully, this works for all of us after the update.

By the way, for those operating systems with jailbroken versions of the iOS, you might as well stick to your current firmware. Avoid this firmware update. Most likely, you’ll lose your jailbreak. I haven’t yet updated mine.

But if you want to upgrade via OTA just click the Settings in your Home screen and tap General then software update. Tell us what you think about the iOS 5.1 version.
