ASUS To Launch Two Windows 8 Tablets And Two Android Tablets In 2012

by Maverick on November 1, 2011

A few hours have been passed since ASUS officially announced their financial results for the third quarter of this year. The numbers are not surprising as of the Samsung mobile devices, but the figures pleases the company and its investors. The financial statistics shows that the company had a good third quarter in terms of revenue but it was not because of its tablet market. The ASUS Netbooks, which we thought had died or were hallucinating made a leap in the financial results of the company.

Anyway, ASUS financial results are not what really interests us now (however, you can download and see the PDF here). What really interests us are the details of the ASUS tablets strategy for the year 2012. As you can see in the screenshot below, ASUS plans to launch two new pairs of tablets powered with Windows 8 and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich respectively and make them available to the public by the third quarter of 2012.

Although we don’t have a great deal of information about these tablets (since they haven’t released any other configuration information apart from the mobile platforms), we are having an idea of what we might see next year. The Windows 8 tablets may be based on the next generation ARM SoC, unfortunately the names are out of reach. Concerning the Android tablets, ASUS might use the same configuration of ASUS Padfone along with certain improvements.

There is also another information from the ASUS (which we have got through their Facebook Fan page) that all their tablets will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, including the first version of Eee Pad Transformer and its successor, Transformer Prime.

We think that ASUS will make an officially presentation of the Windows 8 tablets at the CES 2012, before releasing it to the public while we don’t have any guesses about the release of the Android version’s. Let’s hope that, ASUS will release more information’s regarding these two new pairs of tablets sooner rather than later.
