Apple’s iPad 5 rumored 25% lighter, 15% thinner

by T2D Staff on April 18, 2013

The next iPad of Apple, probably to be named as iPad 5, will be much thinner and lighter than the existing iPad 4 tablet device.

It is learned from KGI Securities analyst Mingchi Kuo that the new device will be 15 percent thinner than the predecessor and will weigh 25 percent less.

According to Kuo, the reduction in size may be due to the battery, which is to be 25 to 30 percent smaller than what is used in the iPad 4. More to this, there will be improvements on the display panels and also on the A-series chip technology.

It is to be noted that lightness and thinness of any device are the key attributes. Kuo added that the last two generations of iPad didn’t do well in the global market as expected because those are thicker as well as heavier than the iPad 2.
